The Academic Leader for Research provides academic leadership in the School Research and Higher Degrees Office (Postgraduate Office), working in collaboration with the Academic Leader for PhD and Master’s Studies. The Academic Leader is a member of the School Management Committee (SMC). The Academic Leader (Research) supports the Dean and the Head of School with Academic and Administrative Functions related to the School and the Higher Degrees office.
Purpose: The School of Education Research and Postgraduate Office facilitates a series of different personal, societal and professional projects directed towards creating an enabling environment to activate the quality of research and teaching and learning of postgraduate students.
To support the execution of quality research and teaching and learning, the research office undertakes to:
- To provide Academic and supervisory support to all students registered for Master’s and Doctoral studies in the School of Education.
- To provide a conducive environment for teaching, learning and research and improve throughput rates.
- To provide support on research, teaching and learning matters, plan regular workshops, debates and seminars, assist in staff and student development.
- To facilitate improvements in admission requirements, processes and policies.
The Research Office in the School of Education supports graduates in generating new and original knowledge at the highest level by conducting original research that addresses complex, context-based issues under the guidance of a research supervisor.
